Social Media Manager (Editorial Lead)

We are hiring a Social Media Manager to shape the day-to-day storytelling across our German social media channels. In this role, you will report to the Social Media Lead and work closely with them and the local Content Creator. You will define the editorial voice for the brand in Germany — what we say, how we say it, and how we show up on social every single day. Your work will bring clarity, creativity, and strong editorial direction to our channels, ensuring content is culturally relevant, on-brand, and optimized for performance.
What you'll do
Editorial Strategy & Ownership
- Set the editorial direction, tone, and content priorities.
- Translate key brand and reputation themes into engaging, social-native storytelling.
- Ensure consistency with broader European guidelines while keeping the local voice authentic.
Daily Publishing & Content Quality
- Drive the always-on content calendar with the Social Media Lead and the local Content Creator, coordinating creator content from agency partners and ensuring seamless alignment with brand priorities.
- Review, refine, and approve captions, hooks, scripts, visuals, and storytelling angles.
- Identify real-time and reactive moments relevant to local digital culture.
Creative Development
- Influence editorial ideas through creator collaborations, working with agency partners to brief, coordinate, and activate influencers and publishers.
- Incorporate local nuances and platform insights into every asset.
Cross-Functional Collaboration
- Work closely with communications, marketing, operations, and internal teams to turn narratives into compelling social content.
- Align with European communications teams to ensure consistent messaging across regions.
Insights, Learning & Optimisation
- Leverage AI tools to optimize creative workflows, project management, and content production processes.
- Monitor performance, extract insights, and apply learnings to improve content.
- Maintain and evolve local editorial guidelines based on audience engagement and content performance.
- Foster a test-and-learn mindset with regular experimentation.
What we're looking for
- 6+ years of experience in editorial, social media, brand storytelling, or content production.
- Native-level fluency in German and excellent English language skills.
- Familiarity with AI tools for content creation, workflow optimization, and project management.
- Strong writing and editing skills — from attention-grabbing hooks to clear narrative framing.
- Deep understanding of local digital culture, trends, and social behaviors.
- Proven experience shaping content for Meta, TikTok, and LinkedIn.
- Strong project coordination skills, with experience managing editorial calendars across multiple platforms and stakeholders.
- Ability to interpret analytics and translate data into editorial decisions.
- Comfortable working in a fast-paced, iterative, and highly collaborative environment.
Bonus Points
- Experience working with creators, influencers, or creative agencies.
- Previous experience in a corporate communications or newsroom environment.
- Familiarity with Sprinklr, Brandwatch, CreatorIQ, or similar tools.
- Hands-on experience with short-form content editing tools such as CapCut or Adobe.
