THE COMPANY
As Mermec Deutschland GmbH, the German subsidiary of Compagnie des Signaux in France, part of the MERMEC Group, which operates worldwide, MERMEC Deutschland works closely with international teams and contributes to cross-border railway signalling and digitalisation projects, particularly within the DACH region.
What we are looking for
As a Buyer you will be responsible for sourcing and procuring critical components for Mermec’s railway diagnostic and measurement systems. This role ensures that all technical parts meet Mermec’s stringent quality, accuracy, and delivery requirements for safety-critical railway applications.
Responsibilities
- Procure technical components (sensors, electronics, embedded systems) used in Mermec’s measurement and diagnostic systems.
- Manage the entire procurement process, from supplier selection and negotiation to order placement.
- Collaborate with engineering teams to understand technical specifications and ensure compliance with project requirements.
- Negotiate pricing, lead times, and contract terms with global suppliers aligned with Mermec’s technical standards.
- Ensure all parts meet railway safety standards (e.g., EN 50126, EN 50128).
- Track purchase orders, inventory, and delivery timelines using Mermec’s ERP system.
- Monitor supplier performance and drive continuous improvement in quality and delivery.
- Support cost-saving initiatives by evaluating alternative suppliers without compromising technical performance.
- Ensure compliance with all procurement policies and railway industry regulations.
Your Profile
- 3–6 years of procurement experience, ideally within high-tech or railway/transport industries.
- Experience sourcing components for railway diagnostics, such as sensors, vision systems, and embedded electronics.
- Proven track record negotiating with global suppliers and balancing cost, quality, and technical requirements.
- Strong knowledge of railway safety and quality standards (e.g., EN 50126, EN 50128).
- Experience with ERP systems (e.g., SAP) and procurement tracking.
- Ability to read and understand technical specifications and engineering drawings.
- Strong collaboration skills working with engineering teams and cross-functional stakeholders.
- Analytical mindset with a focus on precision and reliability.
- Fluent in both German and English.
