Senior IoT Engineer - #2075884
Omnisent

Omnisent is pioneering scalable acoustic sensing powered by AI — transforming audio into real-time intelligence.
We build hardware + software tailored for acoustic data, designed to extract insights from complex acoustic signals. Our proprietary ultra-low-power sonic devices capture and process acoustic signals in real-time, training what we call a Large Acoustic Model (LAM) — our foundation model built to decode the rich, messy, and untapped world of non-speech audio.
We’re starting with the manufacturing industry, applying our tech to compressed air systems — one of the most overlooked sources of energy waste. From there, we’re expanding into energy, defense, space, and smart cities — sectors where sound is the next frontier.
Tasks
IoT Devices & Edge Computing:
- Implement edge computing solutions for real-time data processing and transmission
- Connect and manage embedded IoT devices and gateways
- Develop and maintain gateway logic to bridge device data to the cloud
Wireless Communication:
- Develop low-power wireless communication protocols for device-to-cloud data flow
- Ensure energy efficiency, security, and scalability in deployments
- Apply best practices for device security, including encryption and secure communication
Cloud Integration:
- Select, configure, and manage appropriate IoT cloud platforms (e.g., AWS, Azure)
- Design real-time data pipelines for low-power, high-volume data transmission
Project Management:
- Collaborate with mechanical, electronics, and ML engineers, as well as external R&D partners
- Contribute to the development of a low-power, high-bandwidth end-to-end IoT solution for continuous monitoring
Requirements
Basic Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Electrical/Electronics Engineering, Mechatronics Engineering, or a related field, or 2+ years of relevant industry experience
- 2+ years of experience with low-power wireless communication protocols (preferably using Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, DECT NR+, LTE, sub-1-GHz) for IoT applications
- Hands-on experience with embedded IoT devices, microcontrollers, and platforms (specifically with Nordic Semiconductors, e.g., NRF905)
- Practical experience with IoT cloud platforms (e.g., AWS IoT, Azure IoT)
- Familiarity with the full IoT development lifecycle - from device to cloud
- Valid EU work permit
Preferred Qualifications:
- Master’s or PhD degree in a technical discipline (e.g., Embedded Systems, Robotics, IoT Engineering, or a related field)
- 4+ years of experience in end-to-end IoT system development and deployment
- 4+ years of experience with NoSQL databases (e.g., MongoDB) for real-time data storage and processing
- Knowledge of IoT security best practices, including encryption and secure communications
- Experience working in cross-functional teams with hardware, ML, and R&D collaborators
- German language skills
Join us in redefining how the world listens, understands, and responds through intelligent acoustic sensing.
