Stifel Europe

Stifel (NYSE: SF) is a leading, fast-growing, sector-driven investment bank with a global workforce of over 9,000 professionals across the US and major European financial centers. Following the strategic acquisition of Bryan, Garnier & Co in 2025, Stifel achieved critical mass in European investment banking, positioning itself as a premier mid-market powerhouse. We partner with clients throughout their corporate lifecycle, providing flawless execution in M&A advisory and access to public and private capital.

Global Technology Group (GTG)

As Stifel’s largest industry vertical, the group leverages a global team with deep domain expertise spanning Software, Climate & Industrial Technology, Internet & Digital Media, Technology-Enabled Services, and Fintech. We are a full-service leader, frequently recognized for topping global league tables in mid-market M&A transactions. Our team of specialists provides sophisticated advisory services including M&A, private placements, IPOs, and debt raisings to high-growth companies and technology-focused institutional investors.

For an ambitious professional, our Munich office represents a rare opportunity to do more than just execute deals; it is a chance to actively scale a market-leading technology franchise during its most dynamic phase of European expansion where your individual contribution to our sector growth genuinely moves the needle.

Duties & Responsibilities

As a Vice President at Stifel, you will act as the "deal captain" of our deal teams, managing the day-to-day workflow of complex mandates and serving as the primary bridge between senior leadership and junior team members.

  • Deal coordination: Serve as the central project manager for multiple live mandates, orchestrating the end-to-end execution process and ensuring seamless coordination between clients, buyers, and legal advisors.
  • Technical oversight: Oversee the preparation of sophisticated financial engineering and valuation outputs, ensuring the highest level of analytical rigor in DCF, LBO, and transaction benchmarking performed by Analysts and Associates.
  • Client interface: Act as the primary day-to-day point of contact for client management teams, providing tactical advice and leading the preparation of management presentations and board-level materials.
  • Process architecture: Lead the design and management of complex due diligence workstreams, managing virtual data rooms (VDRs) and coordinating the interface between legal, tax, and accounting workstreams.
  • Franchise growth & engagement: Support the strategic expansion of our technology franchise in Munich by making significant contributions to our recruitment efforts as well as high-impact local events for C-suite executives and the private equity community.

Candidate Profile

We are seeking an ambitious, high-performing "deal captain" with a "can-do" attitude and the leadership presence to command respect from both internal teams and sophisticated clients.

  • Education: A top-tier Bachelor’s or Master’s degree with outstanding academic results in Finance, Economics, Accounting, or a related business field is required; an MBA or CFA designation is highly regarded.
  • Experience: 5–7 years of relevant investment banking or M&A experience is required, with a demonstrable track record of successfully executing transactions in the technology or high-growth sectors.
  • Technical skills: Advanced mastery of transaction structuring and financial modeling; deep proficiency in leveraging financial databases such as Pitchbook and Capital IQ to drive transaction insights.
  • Analytical rigor: Exceptional commercial judgment with the ability to transition from granular financial data to high-level strategic narratives for key clients.
  • Language: Business fluency in German (C2 level) and professional proficiency in English are essential for managing DACH-based mandates and international cross-border transactions.
  • AI aptitude: Leverage bespoke AI platforms. Stifel has invested heavily in modern data architecture and AI-driven banking workflows to provide a competitive edge in advisory.
  • Soft skills: Proven leadership and mentorship capabilities, with the ability to manage multiple high-intensity workstreams while building trust with senior executives.
