Key job responsibilities
Amazon is seeking a talented and motivated Gear Design Engineer to own the design, analysis, and design-for-manufacturing of high-performance while cost-efficient gear systems for our robotic platforms at substantial scale. The ideal candidate combines deep technical expertise spanning diverse gear types for advanced robotics with a demonstrated ability to manage gear vendors (internal and external) and contract design partners.. This candidate must combine strong analytical skills with hands-on experience bringing precision gear systems from concept through volume manufacturing, and thrive in a fast-paced, highly collaborative environment.

Basic Qualifications
- Master's degree or equivalent in mechanical engineering, electrical engineering, material science, physics or equivalent
- Experience working with the designs of complex automated material, handling equipment, packaging technologies, and systems including robotics and high-speed manufacturing
- Experience working with vendors or partners
- Experience interpreting, modifying, and developing mechanical and electrical drawings
- Experience with design software (KISSsoft, MASTA, ROMAX, or equivalent)
- Experience in delivering design solutions for projects of large scope and complexity
- Experience working with the designs of complex automated material, handling equipment, packaging technologies, and systems including robotics and high-speed manufacturing
- Knowledge of engineering documentation, electrical diagrams and standard operating procedures
