What We’re Looking For

We are looking for a UX Designer to create clear, safe and efficient operator experiences across TwentyFour Industries’ UAV ecosystem.

You will understand real users and missions, simplify complex system behaviour and define workflows that remain usable under pressure and degraded conditions. Your work will span setup, planning, launch, mission execution, intervention, recovery, review and maintenance.

This is not a cosmetic design role. UX is part of system performance: it affects mission effectiveness, safety, training burden and customer trust. You will work closely with operators, Product Definition, Systems Engineering and software teams from discovery through field validation.

The day-to-day

• Research operators, maintainers, trainers and mission planners through interviews, observation, exercises, field tests and demonstrations.
• Map end-to-end journeys and workflows across setup, planning, launch, mission execution, intervention, recovery, review and maintenance.
• Turn product requirements and operational constraints into information architecture, interaction models, wireframes and high-fidelity designs.
• Design complex states including connectivity loss, uncertainty, degraded sensors, autonomy handover, alerts, aborts and recovery.
• Define how system state, mission progress, targeting, confidence and operator authority are presented and controlled.
• Prototype and test workflows with representative users; convert evidence into prioritized product and design changes.
• Partner with the Engineering Product Manager on use cases and priorities, Systems Engineering on behaviour and constraints, and the UX Engineer on production implementation.
• Build and maintain shared interaction patterns, visual language and design-system foundations across products.
• Contribute to acceptance criteria and UX verification so usability is proven, not assumed.
• Advocate for the operator while balancing mission effectiveness, safety, training burden, technical feasibility and delivery speed.
  
  

You should apply if you

• Have 4+ years designing complex digital products, ideally for defence, aviation, robotics, vehicles, industrial systems, mapping or other operational environments.
• Have a strong portfolio demonstrating research, workflow design, interaction design, prototyping and shipped outcomes—not only visual polish.
• Can structure complex information and reduce cognitive load without hiding critical system state.
• Have experience testing with professional users and working closely with engineering on constrained systems.
• Are comfortable entering the field, observing imperfect operations and revising assumptions quickly.
• Communicate clearly and bring strong judgement, curiosity and low ego.
  
  

Nice to haves

• Experience with UAV ground-control stations, command-and-control, mapping, robotics or safety-critical interfaces.
• Knowledge of human factors, situational awareness, alarm design or degraded-mode interaction.
• Experience conducting research with military, public-safety or other professional operational users.
• Experience building and governing a design system across complex applications.
