Quality Engineer - #2691849
surge aero
Munich, Germany
Employee
Quality Management
surge aero is developing and delivering high-end propulsion solutions with a strong focus on engineering, reliability and performance. As we build our operations, quality is a core part of how we work — not something added at the end of the process.
We are looking for a Quality Engineer to establish and drive our quality activities from an early stage. This is a hands-on role with a strong technical focus, working closely with engineering, testing and operations.
Tasks
As Quality Engineer, you will be responsible for ensuring that our engines and related components meet defined quality, reliability and documentation standards.
In the initial phase, our activities will focus primarily on testing, inspection and, where necessary, rework rather than full in-house engine manufacturing. You will therefore play a key role in establishing robust inspection and release processes and ensuring that every product leaving our facility meets our high standards.
You will help build our quality processes from the ground up, establish clear criteria for inspection and release, and ensure full traceability throughout our operations.
Your Responsibilities
- Establish and maintain inspection, quality and release processes for engines, components and rework activities
- Develop inspection plans, control plans and clear release criteria
- Perform and coordinate incoming, in-process and final inspections
- Support and oversee engine testing and test-bench quality activities, including measurement-system suitability and data plausibility
- Ensure complete product and process traceability
- Manage measurement and inspection equipment, including calibration and suitability
- Identify and manage non-conformities, deviations and corrective actions
- Lead structured root-cause analysis and 8D problem solving
- Support FMEA activities and identify quality risks early
- Work closely with engineering and operations on technical quality issues, rework and product release
- Support supplier quality topics, especially incoming quality issues and supplier corrective actions
- Build and continuously improve the quality management system, including preparation for ISO 9001 and EN 9100
Requirements
- Technical degree, engineering qualification or technician qualification
- Several years of experience in quality engineering within manufacturing, mechanical engineering, aerospace, automotive or a comparable technical environment
- Strong practical understanding of inspection, release, non-conformity and corrective-action processes
- Experience with quality methods such as 8D, FMEA, MSA and structured root-cause analysis
- Experience with measurement and test equipment, including calibration and measurement-system suitability
- Good understanding of technical drawings, specifications and product documentation
- Experience with product and process traceability
- Strong technical understanding of mechanical systems and measurement technology; experience with engines and/or test benches is highly desirable
- Experience with ISO 9001 and ideally EN 9100
- Hands-on, structured and independent working style, with the ability to establish processes in an environment where not everything is already defined
- Fluent German and good English skills
Benefits
- The opportunity to build quality processes from the ground up
- A key role in establishing the quality standards of a growing aerospace company
- Direct collaboration with engineering, testing and operations
- A highly technical and hands-on working environment
- Significant responsibility and room to shape processes and standards
- The opportunity to work with advanced propulsion technology and high-performance engines
