About the role

Agile Robots SE is an innovative company with a clear mission: bringing intelligent robotic solutions to our customers. We combine the latest AI technology with powerful robotic systems, from industrial robot arms and mobile manipulators to humanoids, to solve tasks that classical automation cannot address.

At the heart of our offering is a versatile software platform for orchestrating complex robotic systems. It enables efficient customization to specific customer requirements: configuring systems, developing reusable skills, parameterizing processes, and reliably executing tasks in production.

Our solutions are deployed with international customers across a wide range of industries.

Seamless integration and scalable deployment are at the core of our mission.

We are looking for a passionate Forward Deployed Engineer for Robotics to bridge cutting-edge robotics technology with real-world customer success. In this role, you will work directly with international customers to deploy, customize, and optimize advanced robotic automation solutions. You will become a trusted technical partner, translating customer challenges into scalable, production-ready robotics applications. The role is based in Munich, Germany.

  • Customize and extend our robotic workcell automation framework by implementing customer-specific features, integrations, and workflows
  • Integrate and fine-tune AI models for robotic applications including Vision-Language-Action (VLA) models, end-to-end learned policies, and general machine learning components
  • Work closely with customers to understand technical requirements and translate them into robust software solutions
  • Diagnose, troubleshoot, and resolve software and system integration issues both remotely and on-site
  • Travel to international customer sites for workshops, deployments, training, and technical support (up to 40% travel)

Essential Skills

  • Master's degree in Robotics, Computer Science, AI, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related field or equivalent practical experience
  • Minimum of four years of professional experience in robotics, AI, industrial automation, or software engineering
  • Experience with robot arms and other robotic hardware (cameras, AGVs, grippers, sensors, etc.)
  • Intermediate programming skills in C++ and Python
  • Practical experience in integrating and programming robotic applications
  • Experience working in Linux environments
  • Willingness to learn new technologies and adapt quickly in customer environments
  • Fluency in English

Beneficial Skills

  • Experience with machine learning frameworks (e.g., PyTorch, TensorFlow), modern AI models (e.g., SAM, YOLO, GraspNET), or Vision-Language(-Action) models
  • Knowledge of control theory for robotics
  • Experience with computer vision (e.g., OpenCV, PCL)
  • Experience deploying and optimizing robotics applications on NVIDIA embedded platforms (e.g., Jetson Orin, AGX, Xavier)
  • Programming experience in Python
  • Familiarity with PLC programming
  • Practical experience with CAD software
  • Knowledge of industrial communication protocols (e.g., EtherCAT, CAN, OPC UA, Modbus)
  • Knowledge of functional safety standards

What we offer

  • A dynamic high-tech company, combined with financial soundness and world-class investors.
  • Join an interdisciplinary, international team with 60+ different nationalities in a collaborative work environment.
  • Lots of development opportunities as we continue to grow.
  • Challenging tasks and impactful projects alongside experts that enable professional and personal growth.
