YOUR ROLE
The Chief Accountant reports directly to the Assistant Director of Finance. The Chief Accountant plays a pivotal role in ensuring the financial integrity and success of the hotel. This position requires a seasoned accounting professional with a strong focus on overseeing the income audit, accounts payable, and especially accounts receivable functions. The Chief Accountant will be responsible for assisting the accounting clerks and provide accurate and timely financial reporting and optimizing the hotel's cash flow by effectively managing receivables. The role involves close collaboration with other departments to support the hotel’s financial goals.
HOW YOU’LL MAKE THE PLACE Accounts Receivable Management
- You handle the end-to-end accounts receivable process, ensuring timely and accurate billing, collections, and account reconciliations.
- You monitor aging reports and proactively implement measures to minimize overdue balances and bad debt exposure.
- You liaise with guests, clients, and internal stakeholders to resolve billing inquiries and disputes while maintaining positive relationships.
- You maintain accurate records of transactions, payment arrangements, and collection activities.
- You support the daily income audit process, ensuring all revenue streams are accurately recorded and any discrepancies are promptly investigated and resolved.
- You review and analyze daily revenue reports to ensure the completeness and accuracy of the hotel's financial results.
- You collaborate closely with the Front Office, Food & Beverage, and other operational departments to ensure consistent and accurate revenue reporting.
- You support the accounts payable function by ensuring the timely and accurate processing of invoices, payment approvals, and vendor administration.
- You ensure compliance with agreed payment terms while supporting effective cash flow management.
- You reconcile vendor statements and proactively investigate and resolve discrepancies in a timely manner.
- You maintain strong relationships with suppliers and internal stakeholders to ensure smooth and efficient payment processes.
- Proven experience in a Finance leadership role, preferably within luxury hospitality or a related premium service environment.
- Completion of vocational training or a university degree in Hospitality Management, Tourism, or a related field.
- Excellent knowledge of accounting and financial reporting.
- Knowledge of local accounting regulations and USALI.
- Excellent interpersonal skills to maintain good relationships with all stakeholders.
- Must have a high degree of professional integrity, and be able to work safely, effectively, and efficiently.
- Must be very detail oriented and have strong organizational skills.
- Self-starter with analytical mind and goal-oriented team player.
- Strong user skills with the Property Management System (Opera Cloud), F&B/Spa POS (Micros Symphony/B4T) and ERP (SunCloud)
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and MS Office.
- Able to complete internal audit function with impartiality.
- Language: Fluency in German and English.
