DAV Leistungssport gGmbH organizes high-performance sport for the German Alpine Club (DAV) in the disciplines of climbing, ski mountaineering, and paraclimbing. DAV Leistungssport gGmbH is a wholly owned subsidiary of the DAV and is also integrated into the structure of the DAV Federal Office. The German Alpine Club (DAV) is the national governing body responsible for Olympic and Paralympic climbing in Germany.

To lead and further develop our high-performance sport, we are looking for a committed individual to join us as

Head National Coach Climbing (m/f/d) Olympic and Paralympic High-Performance Sport as soon as possible; initially fixed-term until 31/12/2028; full-time

In this role, serving as a link between sporting and management levels, you will be responsible for the sporting leadership of the national coaching and support team as well as implementing DAV’s high-performance sports objectives in close cooperation with the Sport Director.

Location is Munich (DAV Federal Office), with regular presence at a national training centre in the future.

Your Responsibilities

• Overall sporting management of Olympic and Paralympic climbing within the DAV
• Professional leadership, coordination and development of the national coaching and training team in cooperation with the Sport Director
• Planning, management and evaluation of training camps, training programmes and competitions
• Responsibility for national and international competition planning for squad athletes in coordination with the national coaches
• Acting as an overarching sporting interface with squad athletes and ensuring effective communication between athletes, the coaching team and the Sport Director
• Implementing and further developing the high-performance sport concept in close cooperation with the Sport Director
• Monitoring and controlling sporting activities and progress towards performance and high-performance sport objectives
• Coordinating cooperation with national training centres, regional associations, and sports science and medical partners
• Analysing international developments and deriving appropriate measures for German climbing
  
  

Your profile

• Extensive climbing-specific expertise in high-performance and elite sport
• Several years of experience as a coach in national or international high-performance sport
• Proven experience in leading and coordinating coaching and support teams
• Coaching qualification at least at Trainer A level, potentially complemented by a degree in sports science
• Structured, analytical and goal-oriented approach to work
• Ability to coordinate complex processes and consistently pursue sporting objectives
• Excellent communication and organisational skills
• Very good command of German and English, both written and spoken
• Willingness to travel nationally and internationally for work
