THE COMPANY

As Mermec Deutschland GmbH, the German subsidiary of Compagnie des Signaux in France, part of the MERMEC Group, which operates worldwide, MERMEC Deutschland works closely with international teams and contributes to cross-border railway signalling and digitalisation projects, particularly within the DACH region.


What we are looking for

As a Sales Manager you will drive business growth for Mermec’s railway measurement, diagnostic, and digital asset management solutions across Germany and selected European markets. The role focuses on managing customer relationships, identifying new business opportunities, and supporting the full sales cycle for complex, technical solutions in the railway sector.


Responsibilities


  • Manage and grow relationships with railway operators, infrastructure managers, and engineering partners (e.g., Deutsche Bahn and regional operators).
  • Drive sales of Mermec’s railway diagnostic systems, including track geometry measurement, rail inspection, and overhead line monitoring solutions.
  • Identify and develop new business opportunities, including public tenders and long-term service contracts.
  • Lead and coordinate end-to-end sales processes, from opportunity identification through proposal, negotiation, and contract closure.
  • Prepare and deliver technical and commercial proposals in collaboration with engineering and bid management teams.
  • Analyze customer requirements and align Mermec’s measurement and data-driven solutions to client needs.
  • Support participation in tenders and bidding processes, ensuring compliance with railway procurement requirements.
  • Maintain accurate sales forecasts, pipeline management, and reporting in CRM systems.
  • Monitor market trends, competitor activities, and emerging technologies in railway diagnostics and asset management.
  • Represent Mermec at industry events, trade fairs, and client meetings.
  • Collaborate with internal teams (engineering, project management, service) to ensure smooth handover and customer satisfaction.


Your Profile

  • 4–7 years of experience in technical sales or business development, preferably in railway, transportation, or infrastructure sectors.
  • Strong understanding of railway systems, infrastructure monitoring, or diagnostic technologies.
  • Experience working with public tenders and complex B2B sales cycles.
  • Ability to sell high-value, technically complex solutions involving hardware, software, and services.
  • Familiarity with railway stakeholders in Germany/Europe, especially infrastructure managers and operators.
  • Strong commercial acumen with proven negotiation and contract management skills.
  • Ability to understand and communicate technical concepts (e.g., sensor systems, data analytics, measurement technologies).
  • Experience with CRM tools (e.g., Salesforce or similar).
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills.
  • Fluent in German and English (mandatory for customer-facing role in Germany).
