Cloud Data Engineer | GCP / BigQuery / Ab Initio | Germany / Europe | Contract

We’re looking for a Cloud Data Engineer for an immediate Google Cloud data engineering project with periodic travel to Germany.

This is a 3-month contract initially, with potential extension.

The key requirement is hands-on GCP data engineering experience, with strong BigQuery and Ab Initio exposure.

This is not a general data engineering role. We need someone who has worked on enterprise-scale cloud data platforms, data migration, secure pipelines and complex batch or streaming environments.

Project snapshot:

• Location: Germany preferred, ideally Frankfurt or Munich. Europe considered
• Working model: Hybrid
• Travel: Periodic travel to Germany, ideally 1-2 times per month
• Timezone: CET preferred
• Duration: 3 months initially, with potential extension
• Language: English mandatory, German strongly preferred

Core requirements:

• 5+ years designing, developing and deploying high-performance data pipelines
• Strong Google Cloud Platform data engineering experience
• Proven BigQuery experience
• Hands-on Ab Initio experience
• Experience building and maintaining secure, reliable and scalable data lakes and data warehouses on GCP
• Strong data migration and transformation experience
• Experience with batch and streaming data pipelines
• Cloud enterprise solution design experience
• Customer-facing project delivery experience
• DevOps, infrastructure automation and CI/CD experience
• Google Cloud Professional Data Engineer certification
• Strong English communication skills

• Advanced SQL tuning and optimisation
• Cost and performance optimisation on BigQuery
• Event streaming and event delivery semantics
• Production-grade big data platforms on public cloud
• Experience working with data scientists, analysts and software engineers
• Strategic customer or enterprise consulting background
