THE COMPANY

As Mermec Deutschland GmbH, the German subsidiary of Compagnie des Signaux in France, part of the MERMEC Group, which operates worldwide, MERMEC Deutschland works closely with international teams and contributes to cross-border railway signalling and digitalisation projects, particularly within the DACH region.

What we are looking for

We are seeking a highly experienced Senior IXL GA Developer to design, develop, and validate Generic Applications (GA) for interlocking (IXL) systems in railway signaling projects. This role is central to delivering safe, reliable, and standards-compliant signaling solutions.

The ideal candidate has deep expertise in interlocking principles, signaling data preparation, and safety-critical software development within railway environments.

RESPONSIBILITIES

• Develop, configure and maintain Generic Application (GA) data for interlocking systems based on signaling principles, SSRS inputs, control tables, and project requirements
• Ensure full bidirectional traceability between SSRS, SWRS, and GA data/configuration, maintaining alignment across all lifecycle artifacts
• Analyze signaling layouts, control tables, and operational rules to implement GA logic
• Ensure compliance with safety standards, signaling principles and safety critical development processes
• Perform validation and verification of GA configurations, including simulation, testing and support to independent V&V activities
• Collaborate closely with system engineering, signaling design, testing, and safety teams
• Collaborate with external suppliers and partners regarding GA implementation, design choices, and deliverables, supporting compliance with technical and contractual requirements
• Support integration of GA into interlocking systems and on-site commissioning
• Troubleshoot and resolve issues related to interlocking logic and system behavior
• Review and validate signaling data, ensuring consistency and correctness
• Use and support improvement of GA generation tools and associated toolchains, promoting automation of configuration, validation, and testing activities where feasible
• Contribute to documentation, including design specifications and test reports
• Support configuration management and version control of GA deliverables, ensuring traceability and reproducibility

PROFILE DESCRIPTION

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Railway Engineering, Computer Science, or related field
• 3-5 years of experience in railway signaling, with focus on interlocking systems
• Proven experience in GA development/configuration for IXL systems
• Strong understanding of signaling principles, control tables, and route logic. Experience with German signaling principles is a plus
• Experience with interlocking platforms (e.g., Siemens, Alstom, Hitachi, or similar)
• Knowledge of safety-critical development processes and lifecycle (V-model)
• Familiarity with testing, simulation, and validation of signaling systems
