Job Description

The Sr Principal Engineer, Product Marketing owns strategic definition and long-range technology direction for Renesas industrial solutions, with primary focus on the RZ microprocessor line (RZ/N and RZ/T).

This role operates at the intersection of market strategy, deep-technology pathfinding, and product definition, shaping future generations of industrial application processor-class devices. The individual will drive emerging technology strategy, portfolio competitiveness, and cross-domain integration across key areas including functional safety, security, industrial networking, sensor fusion, and actuation.

Acting as the voice of the customer and market, this role ensures Renesas builds differentiated, scalable solutions aligned to high-growth applications such as industrial automation, robotics, Physical AI, and intelligent edge systems, while driving alignment from concept through roadmap execution and market adoption.

  • Define product and technology strategy by identifying emerging trends, high-growth markets, and long-term differentiation opportunities for application processor-class products.
  • Develop and execute market “attack strategies,” translating opportunities into prioritized segments, solution focus areas, and go-to-market direction.
  • Lead product definition in emerging technology domains, converting technology direction into clear requirements across silicon, software, safety, and ecosystem.
  • Drive cohesive “whole product” solutions by ensuring integration across hardware, software, tools, and partner ecosystems.
  • Ensure portfolio competitiveness through continuous benchmarking, clear value propositions, and closing gaps via roadmap and investment prioritization.
  • Engage with customers, partners, and industry ecosystems to capture future needs, influence adoption, and strengthen market positioning.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally to align product strategy, roadmaps, and execution across engineering, product management, sales, and marketing teams.
  • Define go-to-market strategies and positioning to drive design wins, adoption, and revenue growth in industrial and emerging-edge applications.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or a related technical field. Master’s degree preferred.
  • 12+ years of experience in semiconductors, embedded systems, industrial automation, or related markets.
  • 7+ years of experience in product marketing, product definition, product management, applications engineering, system architecture, or similar customer-facing technical roles.
  • Strong knowledge of microprocessor and embedded system architectures, especially real-time and networked industrial control systems.
  • Demonstrated understanding of industrial technologies such as functional safety, product security, industrial Ethernet, motion control, robotics systems, sensing, and intelligent edge processing.
  • Experience developing market requirements, roadmaps, business cases, competitive analyses, and differentiated solution narratives.
  • Experience working across global cross-functional teams and influencing product direction without formal reporting authority.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to communicate effectively to both technical and business audiences.
