Computer Vision Research Scientist - #2632865

Our client is an R&D consulting company based in Munich, conducting research, development and consulting in advanced medical image computing technologies and computer vision. Their customers include small and large medical device companies as well as academic research labs.

As Senior Research Scientist, you will work on cutting-edge innovation using state-of-the-art computer vision and machine learning techniques, sharing your knowledge and experience with the rest of the team and clients. You will develop innovative computer vision methods applied to endoscopic imaging for use in robotic and conventional surgery. Exemplary topics include 3D reconstruction, monocular depth estimation, tissue tracking and segmentation, and 6D pose estimation. You will also have the opportunity to engage with the academic community through publishing papers, attending conferences, and mentoring students.

Key responsibilities

• Conduct applied research in 3D computer vision and deep learning, with a focus on endoscopic and medical imaging
• Develop and commercialise advanced medical products in collaboration with renowned industry customers
• Publish research that advances the company's mission and aligns with its core areas of expertise
• Share knowledge and technical insights with colleagues and clients
• Mentor and supervise students as part of the team's academic engagement

Required experience and qualifications

• PhD in a relevant field, or MSc with 5+ years of research-oriented industry experience
• Strong understanding of 3D computer vision and deep learning
• Excellent Python coding skills
• Ability to conduct applied research independently
• Reliable team player and quick learner
• Proficient in English

Nice-to-have experience includes a background in medical imaging and/or endoscopic imaging, experience with knowledge distillation, quantisation, and edge-device model deployment with accelerators (TensorRT, Dynamo, etc.), and C++ coding skills.
