Junior Grid Connection Manager (Electrical Engineering) – Renewable Energy IPP
We are supporting a rapidly growing renewable energy Independent Power Producer (IPP) developing, building, and operating utility-scale solar, wind, and energy storage projects across Germany and Europe. As part of our continued growth, we are seeking a Junior Grid Connection Manager to support the successful grid integration of our renewable energy portfolio.
This is an excellent opportunity for an early-career electrical engineer who wants to build expertise in power systems, grid connection processes, and renewable energy project development within a dynamic and purpose-driven environment.
Role Overview:
As a Junior Grid Connection Manager, you will support the development and execution of grid connection strategies for renewable energy and battery storage projects across Germany. Working closely with project development, engineering, and external grid operators, you will help ensure projects achieve timely and cost-effective grid connections.
You will gain hands-on experience with German transmission and distribution network operators, grid studies, connection applications, and technical compliance requirements.
Key Responsibilities
- Support the preparation and submission of grid connection applications for solar PV, wind, and BESS projects.
- Coordinate with German TSOs and DSOs throughout the grid connection process.
- Review grid connection offers, technical requirements, and connection agreements.
- Assist in managing power system studies, including:
- Load flow analysis
- Short-circuit studies
- Dynamic and stability assessments
- Monitor project milestones related to grid connection and permitting.
- Coordinate with internal engineering teams, consultants, and EPC contractors.
- Support technical due diligence activities during project acquisitions.
- Maintain project documentation and grid connection trackers.
- Monitor changes in German grid codes and regulatory frameworks.
- Support negotiations regarding connection conditions, timelines, and technical requirements.
Requirements:
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in: Electrical Engineering, Power Systems Engineering, Energy Engineering or a related technical discipline
- 0–2 years of professional experience in electrical engineering, power systems, utilities, renewable energy, or grid connection activities.
- Basic understanding of: Power transmission and distribution networks, Grid connection processes, Electrical network design and operation
- Familiarity with renewable energy technologies such as solar PV, wind, or battery energy storage systems.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management abilities.
- Fluency in German and English (written and spoken).
- Willingness to travel occasionally within Germany.
Preferred:
- Knowledge of German grid codes and connection regulations.
- Exposure to TSOs and DSOs such as: TenneT, 50Hertz, Amprion, TransnetBW
- Experience with power system software such as: DIgSILENT PowerFactory, PSSE, ETAP, NEPLAN
- Understanding of utility-scale renewable energy projects.
- Internship or thesis work related to power systems or renewable energy.
