We are seeking an experienced Infrastructure Engineer (2nd Line) to join a growing educational organisation. This role will be responsible for supporting and developing the school's IT infrastructure, ensuring reliable technology services for staff and students, and acting as a key point of contact for both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
Working across a broad technology environment, you will provide hands-on infrastructure support while helping to deliver IT improvement initiatives, manage third-party suppliers, and contribute to the long-term technology strategy of the organisation.
This position is well suited to a technically strong generalist who enjoys a varied role and is looking to develop their experience across infrastructure, project delivery, and IT operations.
Key Responsibilities
- Support the separation and migration of IT services from a centralised trust environment to an independent school infrastructure.
- Coordinate and manage activities delivered by external MSPs and third-party technology providers.
- Provide 2nd line infrastructure and end-user support across a broad technology estate.
- Assist with planning and executing cloud migration and infrastructure transition projects.
- Maintain and support Microsoft 365, Azure, Active Directory, Windows Server, Intune, and endpoint management platforms.
- Support network infrastructure including LAN, switches, firewalls, wireless networks, and connectivity services.
- Manage Windows 11 laptops, iPads, mobile device management (MDM), and end-user technology.
- Liaise with technical and non-technical stakeholders to coordinate maintenance windows, downtime, and project activities.
- Contribute to IT budgeting, procurement activities, supplier management, and technology planning.
- Support future MSP tender processes and vendor selection activities.
- Document systems, processes, and operational procedures to ensure long-term sustainability and knowledge retention.
- Act as the local technology representative and trusted advisor for school leadership teams.
