Compensation:

  • Starting salary from €75,000 per annum

Airatransport GmbH is a growing logistics company operating across Germany and Western Europe. While we have strong roots in automotive and vehicle logistics, we are actively expanding into broader freight transport and logistics markets.

We are seeking an experienced and commercially driven Senior Transport & Freight Manager who can take ownership of transport operations, freight sourcing, carrier management, and business development from day one.

This is not a role for someone looking for extensive onboarding or training. We are looking for a self-sufficient logistics professional who understands the European transport market, can work independently, and can bring valuable customer, carrier, and industry relationships to help accelerate the company's growth.



The Opportunity

This role combines transport management, freight trading, logistics operations, and business development.

You will be responsible for finding and securing freight, managing customer relationships, sourcing carriers and subcontractors, negotiating profitable transport solutions, and expanding our logistics network across Europe.

The ideal candidate will have a strong commercial mindset and a proven track record of generating business while ensuring operational excellence.



Key Responsibilities

Transport Operations

  • Manage and optimize daily transport operations across Germany and Europe.
  • Coordinate transport activities involving automotive logistics, vehicle transport, general freight, and specialized transport services.
  • Plan and optimize routes to maximize efficiency and profitability.
  • Ensure compliance with transport regulations and industry standards.
  • Monitor operational performance, costs, and service quality.

Freight Sourcing & Sales

  • Source, negotiate, and secure freight opportunities across European transport markets.
  • Develop and manage a portfolio of customers requiring transport and logistics services.
  • Sell available transport capacity and maximize fleet and subcontractor utilization.
  • Purchase, broker, and manage freight through direct customers, freight exchanges, and industry networks.
  • Negotiate transport rates and commercial agreements with customers and carriers.
  • Identify profitable transport opportunities and maximize margins.

Business Development

  • Generate new business opportunities using your existing network and industry contacts.
  • Build long-term relationships with shippers, manufacturers, freight forwarders, logistics providers, and transport companies.
  • Expand the company's customer base and transport volumes.
  • Identify new market opportunities and contribute to the company's growth strategy.
  • Represent the company professionally within the logistics and transport sector.

Carrier & Network Development

  • Source, onboard, and manage subcontractors and transport partners.
  • Build and strengthen a reliable European carrier network.
  • Develop long-term partnerships with logistics providers and transport operators.
  • Ensure high service standards across the supplier network.



Candidate Profile

Essential Requirements

  • Proven experience in transport management, freight forwarding, logistics operations, freight brokerage, or transport business development.
  • Strong understanding of European road transport and logistics markets.
  • Demonstrated experience sourcing freight and managing transport operations.
  • Ability to independently generate business opportunities and secure new customers.
  • Established network of customers, carriers, freight forwarders, logistics providers, or subcontractors.
  • Strong commercial awareness and negotiation skills.
  • Excellent communication and relationship-building abilities.
  • Fluent English required.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision and no requirement for extensive training.

Highly Desirable

  • Experience in automotive logistics, vehicle transport, car-carrier operations, or heavy transport.
  • Existing portfolio of active customers or transport partners.
  • Experience building logistics operations or growing transport businesses.
  • German language skills.
  • Additional European languages.
