Job Description

Who will you be working with?

You will work closely with a global, cross-functional organization including System Engineering Managers, Product Line teams, Project Management, Sales, and Quality.In this role, you will lead an international team of System Engineering Managers and collaborate with stakeholders across multiple regions (Europe and Asia). You will act as the main technical escalation point for customers and internal teams, ensuring alignment across engineering, business, and project functions.You will also interact directly with global customers, supporting technical discussions, audits, and complex system integration challenges.

How will you make a difference?

As a Global Systems Manager within the Information Solutions product line, you will play a critical leadership role in driving system engineering excellence across the organization.You will be responsible for defining and executing global system strategies, ensuring robust and scalable architectures across complex, multi-product platforms such as Passenger Information Systems, CCTV, and communication subsystems.Your leadership will ensure strong QCD (Quality, Cost, Delivery) performance across projects, while fostering collaboration between engineering, sales, and product teams. By driving continuous improvement and harmonizing processes across regions, you will support the delivery of high-quality solutions to global railway operators and OEMs.

What will your typical day look like?

  • Leading and developing a global team of System Engineering Managers
  • Defining and driving system engineering strategy for the product line
  • Reviewing and validating complex system architectures and technical decisions
  • Ensuring QCD performance across all ongoing projects
  • Managing technical risks, escalations, and recovery plans
  • Acting as the main technical interface for international customers
  • Supporting bid and offer processes with technical expertise
  • Collaborating with Sales, Product Line, and Project Management teams
  • Driving continuous improvement and harmonization of engineering processes

Qualifications

What do we want to know about you?

Professional Background:

  • Minimum 15 years of experience in engineering complex systems (railway, industrial, embedded, telecoms, or similar)
  • Strong educational background in electronics, computer science, embedded systems, or related field
  • Proven experience managing international, multicultural engineering teams
  • Experience in system engineering, product line management, or technical project leadership

Technical Expertise:

  • Strong understanding of:
    • Complex system architectures and integration
    • Multi-product platforms and interoperability
    • Hardware, embedded systems, networking, and cybersecurity
  • Experience in:
    • Engineering processes and governance
    • Risk management and escalation handling
    • QCD performance and project delivery
Soft Skills:

  • Strong leadership and people management skills
  • Ability to challenge and influence technical decisions
  • Customer-oriented and solution-driven mindset
  • Strong analytical thinking and decision-making under pressure

Languages:

  • Fluent English (mandatory)
  • German required (based on location)
  • Additional languages (French, Italian, Chinese) are a strong advantage
