PhD Topic – Subproject A2
The successful candidate will:
- Develop novel Stated Preference (SP) survey methodologies to assess the impact of extreme transportation policies such as high carbon pricing and road closures.
- Identify behavioral tipping points and elasticities in transportation mode choice and activity participation.
- Evaluate how communication strategies, environmental awareness, and behavioral nudges can encourage sustainable travel behaviors.
- Conduct empirical validation of SP findings to inform responsible mobility planning.
- An excellent Master’s degree in transportation, computer science, economics, management & technology, or a related discipline.
- Strong background in transportation science and/or data analytics.
- Demonstrated interdisciplinary interest, collaborative spirit, and commitment to completing the PhD within 3 years and 9 months.
- Excellent written and spoken English communication skills.
- Fulfillment of TUM’s doctoral admission requirements (see: https://www.gs.tum.de/en/gs/path-to-a-doctorate/application/requirements/).
