At MVST, we love partnering with visionary founders and scaling impactful digital products. Today, we’re looking for a VP of Engineering to join one of our portfolio companies, an ambitious, product-led startup on a mission to reshape the digital marketplace space.

We’re seeking a VP of Engineering with a performance-driven mindset and a proven track record of scaling complex systems. You’ll join the leadership team and drive the evolution of a high-growth platform expanding across Europe and the U.S.

This role is ideal for someone with deep technical expertise in web and backend development, a strong grasp of scalable system architecture, and a passion for building secure, efficient, and user-centric products. You’ll shape the technical vision, mentor a growing engineering team, and work closely with Product to build a platform designed for global scale

Your Responsibilities

• Define and lead the long-term technical vision and strategy across backend, frontend, mobile, and internal tools—ensuring a scalable, cohesive, and efficient architecture
• Drive scalability, performance, and security of the platform to support rapid growth and complexity
• Build and lead a high-performing engineering team: recruit, mentor, and foster a culture of accountability and excellence
• Partner with Product to develop and prioritise a high-impact roadmap that balances immediate value delivery with long-term technical investments
• Contribute to strategic planning by bringing a strong technical voice to leadership discussions—aligning engineering efforts with business goals
• Provide hands-on guidance in architecture, system design, and key technical decisions
• Promote a culture of technical excellence, including smart, value-driven use of AI and automation to accelerate development
• Ensure development speed, reliability, and efficiency through continuous improvement of processes, pipelines, and testing frameworks
• Champion adoption of new technologies when they offer clear business value and competitive advantage
  
  
  

Requirements

• 8+ years of engineering experience, with 3+ years in senior leadership or CTO-level roles
• Expertise in PHP, Laravel, Vue.js, and component-based frontend development
• Experience with headless CMS platforms such as Storyblok
• Strong architectural skills and deep understanding of performance, scalability, and system design
• Familiarity with React Native, Python, and Java
• Solid experience with cloud infrastructure, CI/CD, testing automation, and security best practices
• Proven ability to lead and scale engineering teams while maintaining high delivery standards
• Experience building platforms with multi-language, multi-region support including regional settings, currencies, and compliance requirements
• Hands-on experience with large-scale systems (e.g., billing, identity verification, dynamic pricing, and search)
• Excellent communication and collaboration skills; fluency in English
