Your future team

Your team will consist of a Junior Legal Counsel and a Working Student, and you will directly report to the group VP of Finance.

Your role in this journey

  • Legal Leadership: Provide effective, business-focused legal advice and expertise on contract and commercial law, data protection law, unfair competition law, IT and intellectual property law, M&A and company law and corporate housekeeping.
  • Contract Management: Oversee drafting and negotiation of a wide range of commercial agreements (e.g., vendor, partnership, NDAs, Terms and Conditions).
  • Corporate Governance: Ensure compliance with German and EU corporate law. Draft and develop internal policies and templates.
  • Regulatory & Compliance: Monitor changes in relevant laws (especially data privacy, consumer protection, and competition law) and ensure company-wide compliance.
  • External support management: Manage relationships effectively with external legal counsels.
  • Business Partnering: Act as a trusted advisor to senior leadership, balancing legal risk with business goals.
  • Dispute Resolution: Manage or oversee any legal disputes, litigation, or external legal support as necessary.
  • Team Leadership: Manage and mentor one Junior Legal Counsel and a Working Student.

Your backpack is filled with

  • Legal Background: Fully qualified lawyer in Germany (Zweites Staatsexamen) with at least 7 years of post-qualification experience, ideally from a combination of law firm and in-house roles.
  • Scale-up or Tech Industry Experience: Prior experience in a dynamic, entrepreneurial, or tech-driven environment is highly valued.
  • Expertise Across Legal Fields: Broad legal knowledge with strong understanding of German and EU corporate, commercial, data protection (GDPR), and employment law.
  • Business Orientation: Comfortable making pragmatic decisions in ambiguous situations and aligning legal guidance with company objectives.
  • Strong Communicator: Able to convey complex legal topics clearly and concisely to both legal and non-legal audiences.
  • Fluent in German and English: Excellent written and verbal communication in both languages is essential.
  • Leadership Potential: Experience managing or mentoring team members is a plus.
