Tests matter to us because they make our work easier. Fixing bugs doesn’t stop at patching; we take ownership of our code and investigate why our tests didn’t catch the issue in the first place. Everyone is responsible for moving projects forward, tying up loose ends, and avoiding stagnation.

Your Day-to-Day

• Lead and develop a remote engineering team with 3–4 Team Leads (each managing 3–5 direct reports across backend, fullstack, frontend – including SysAdmin and SRE).
• Own and drive the technical strategy and implementation of our Ruby on Rails–based platform.
• Lead technical discovery projects, identify technical debt, and propose solutions in close alignment with our CTO.
• We use Shape Up and deliberately keep meetings to a minimum.
• Ensure outstanding technical infrastructure, software quality, and security.
• Support continuous product development aligned with our overall product strategy.
  
  

Your Profile

• Experience: Several years of leadership experience in managing engineering teams, ideally in a startup or scale-up environment.
• Technical Expertise: Deep knowledge of Ruby on Rails and experience with modern web technologies.
• Languages: Fluent in both German and English – ideally at near-native level.
• Leadership: Strong communication and leadership skills; ability to prioritize and take clear action.
• Personality: A decisive, hands-on leader who enjoys executing a shared product strategy rather than pushing own ideas.
• Work Style: Flexible, adaptable, and self-organized.
